Edmonds & Slatter Opticians recently joined forces with dog owners in Blaby to make their pet pooch a hero for the day. A sponsored dog walk, part of the “Dogs Unite” series of events created by Guide Dogs, was organised by the opticians and took place on Northfield Park.

The Dogs Unite event, was well attended and proved to be fantastic fun for all the families and their participating pets. At check-in all canines were issued with their super hero cape transforming them into Caped Crusaders before starting the walk. Children who didn’t have a pet dog were able to join in the fun by bringing along their own toy dogs.
On the morning of the walk there was an autumnal chill in the air but that only encouraged some good, brisk walking! On completion every dog received a certificate and a goodie bag containing amongst other items the all-important pack of Poop-scoop bags kindly donated by Blaby Pet & Garden Centre.

Edmonds and Slatter Opticians are currently supporting Guide Dogs as their charity of the year. Every hour, another person in the UK loses their sight and if this happens to you, Guide Dogs is there to make sure you don’t lose your freedom as well. Jess Slatter, Business Manager of Edmonds & Slatter Opticians said: “All dog lovers enjoy taking their lovely pet on fun walks, now they have been able to do that and help Guide Dogs change the lives of people with sight loss.”

With the final few donations still to be handed in, Edmonds & Slatter Opticians are on target to raise over £400.00 from this event alone. If you would like to make a donation to Guide Dogs, please visit Edmonds & Slatter Opticians in Blaby, Glenfield or Lutterworth.
