On Wednesday night Edmonds & Slatter Opticians hosted their annual food and fundraising event, a curry night at Chamelee restaurant, Blaby. This year’s event was in aid of local charity Matthew Needham’s Treasure Chest. The charity was set up in 2005 after Matthew, aged 9, passed away following open heart surgery at Glenfield Hospital.
Guests purchased a ticket and were treated to a full table service, 3 course Indian meal with accompanying live music from Dale Palmer, vocalist. Other entertainment during the night included a fun quiz with questions about the history of curry and a section on pirates in keeping with the Treasure Chest wording of the charity. There was also a prize draw featuring pairs of designer sunglasses that had been kindly donated for the event.
Amy Coleburne of Edmonds & Slatter, who helped organise the event was very pleased with the results. Amy said “Everyone had a lovely, fun and relaxing night while raising money for a wonderful cause” She continued “ We raised an amazing £460.23 for Matthew Needham’s Treasure Chest which will be used to help and care for many local children, so thank you to everyone involved".
