IMG00271Staff from Edmonds & Slatter Opticians in Lutterworth will be posing in pink on Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15th of October as they help to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

The ladies will be wearing something pink and glamorous at work for the day as part of ‘FROCKTOBER’ in support of Cancer Research UK’s breast cancer awareness campaign, ‘Join the fight for women’s survival.’

As well as paying £5 each to dress up in pink, they will be selling pin-badges and decorating their shop window in a pink and glam theme to match.

Cancer Research UK’s campaign ‘Join the fight for women’s survival’ is designed to act as a rallying call, encouraging everyone to help beat breast cancer – a disease which affects around 48,000 women every year in the UK.

As well as raising vital funds for research, Cancer Research UK’s campaign aims to make all women aware of their risk of breast cancer, a disease which affects one in eight women in the UK at some stage in their lives.

Amy Coleburne, Dispensing Optician and event organiser, said: “We want to support Cancer Research UK because we all know someone who has been touched by breast cancer. Stepping forward to ‘Join the fight for women’s survival’ is a great way to help a really important cause and have fun at the same time.”

Thanks to the generosity of its supporters, Cancer Research UK was able to spend over £41 million on groundbreaking work into the disease last year, making the charity the largest single funder of breast cancer research in the UK.

This research covers all aspects of the disease, from understanding its molecular causes and investigating new ways to prevent and diagnose it, to developing better treatments and improving quality of life for people affected by it.

Please come into Edmonds and Slatter’s Lutterworth practice any time in October to make a donation or buy a pin-badge. Alternatively you can donate on line at
