Local opticians Edmonds & Slatter have recently received fantastic news! They are finalists in the 2017 Opticians Awards. The independent opticians, with practices in Blaby, Glenfield and Lutterworth have been shortlisted in the category “Family Optician of the Year”.
Partner Tim Cole commented “This category reflects the importance of an optical practice that has family values at its heart. We provide “cradle to grave” multi-generational eye care to the very young right through to our current oldest patients of over 100 years of age. We actively encourage children to visit us from an early age by contacting local schools to make them aware of our eye testing services as school screening no longer occurs. We send out information packs to parents encouraging their child’s first test and providing important information about eye health. We also encourage parents to bring siblings along for their first checks whilst attending our practices.”
“At the other end of the generational eye care scale are the domiciliary service we provide. We have offered a domiciliary eye testing service for the last 30 years but we have recently shone a spotlight on it, to raise awareness of the service for any immobile relatives. We believe that patients who can no longer get to us for their eye test should not miss out on continuity of care and the excellent service you would expect from an independent optician. That’s why we bring the service to them!”
Edmonds and Slatter have been recognised with an Optician Award previously in 2015 when they were winners of the “Optical Assistant Team of the Year” award. This year the prestigious awards ceremony will take place in Birmingham on Saturday the 1st of April. Fingers crossed for another great result for the family-focused practices.
