Edmonds and Slatter are holding their breath this month in proud anticipation. Their long standing employee Joanne Benfield has been short listed as one of the top four Dispensing Opticians in the country at the prestigious 2009 Optician Awards, the Optical Industries Oscar equivalent.
The awards are for those working within optical practices both inside and outside the consulting room. They recognize and celebrate excellence within the industry which a great proportion of the patients at Edmonds and Slatter believe Joanne truly deserves.
Tim Cole, a partner at the South Leicestershire based Opticians, commented “We have been overwhelmed by the support for Joanne from our patients and suppliers. Conscientious, loyal, supportive, enthusiastic, caring, professional and happy at all times are all words that can sum her up. Jo will be embarrassed by this nomination and will feel that she is not worthy of such an accolade but I know that secretly she is chuffed to bits to be recognised by the profession and patients she loves!”
Joanne, who is manageress of the Blaby practice, will attend the awards night which is shaping up to be one of the optical events of the year. The 2009 Optician Awards will be hosted on the Saturday 5th of April at the National Motorcycle Museum, close to the NEC. Finalists will be greeted on the red carpet to enjoy a night of Hollywood glitz and glamour, culminating in the presentation of the coveted trophies.
All her colleagues and patients are keeping their fingers crossed for the night!
