The staff at Edmonds and Slatter Opticians take the subject of Ocular Hygiene very seriously. Almost every single member of staff has completed a training course in this field, with the latest being Matt Elden, Optical Assistant and Amy Coleburne, Dispensing Optician.
The training focuses on eye conditions including Blepharitis and Dry Eye which can affect a patient’s vision and visual comfort. The Hygienists are now able to provide the necessary information for patients on good eye health and helping to keep these conditions at bay.
Tim Cole, Partner commented “We are very proud of all our Ocular Hygienists, they are now able to advise and assist our patients who suffer from Dry Eye and Blepharitis. At the same time they have developed their professional skills”, he continued “Approximately 60% of patients suffer from Dry Eye or Blepharitis and are unaware that these conditions can be prevented through a good cleaning regime and our Hygienists are perfectly placed to provide this advice saving our patients from experiencing unnecessary discomfort and problems.
